How do you deal with someone you love being stationed overseas for a long period of time?

My boyfriend is in the army and he is going to be stationed on assignment in Egypt for 13 months beginning at the end of may. I am really having a hard time dealing with the idea of him being gone for that long. I am just looking for some coping mechanisms and reassurance. How do you deal with someone you love being stationed overseas for a long period of time?
.It's not easy but you focus on your work or kids or friends or school or hobbies or whatever you have here at home. You keep in touch with him as much as you can. When I was married to a man in the Air Force, computers were not common. He got one 10-minute morale call a month when he was overseas, and otherwise we communicated via snail mail (handwritten letters), for an entire year....so I know what you are facing, but you'll have more contact with your guy as computer access has changed things over the years.

It's not easy being the partner of a military person. You must be patient, independent, and have a lot of trust in one another. How do you deal with someone you love being stationed overseas for a long period of time?
My Fiance is in The Marines and Yes i know how its like. Right now hes stationed in Camp Pendelton(California).Right now i live in Illinois, Ive been like this for almost 3 years. But its totally worth it. Yes Its really hard, but i think if you guys really love each other everything will be okay. You guys need to have a very good relationship for example, trust and love. Sometimes it gets really tough but soon you get used to it. Good Luck with everything!
